People see the footballer i became - but they don’t see the story i had to survive to get here.

I remember flying out from my home town for what i thought and was told was a week of training with a specific team but upon my arrival i got told to put my boots on and join the trialist’s in what was now a “open trial” with like 100 other players. Ten minutes in…i was told i wasn’t good enough. Just like that.

I felt embarrassed. I felt defeated. Honestly i thought that was the end of my football journey. I even called my mom and told her to book me a flight back home - i said “i’m done ill just go study”

But she said something that stuck with me. She told me i could come home and that studying was fine, but what i must not do is live with the question, ‘what if?’

That hit me.

So instead of going home, i took one more chance. I spoke to the guy who had arranged the trials for me and he pointed me to another opportunity in bloemfontein. I got on a bus, arrived early the next morning and trained with the team for the next 2 days, and after that the coach said he’d seen enough and that he wanted me to stay.

And thats when i realised my ‘why’. From that moment on, i told myself that no rejection, no person, no situation would decide my path for me, only God would.

And from that moment everything changed.

I went on to play professionally and one thing i knew about myself was this; i might not have been the most naturally talented player, but i could control how hard i worked, i could control my fitness.

My father always told me: if you want to stand out, you have to do more than everyone else. Run more, work more and give more.

So i made that my identity, i would be the fittest, the hardest working player on every team i stepped into. Because i knew that i would always give me an edge. And that mindset carried me through my career.

But after my 12th season, i faced another test. My contract wasn’t renewed, and just like that i was without a club. For 6 months there was no team, no certainty, just me, my discipline and my mindset. Waking up every day, training two sometimes three times a day, staying ready without knowing when or if another opportunity would come. It wasn’t easy. There were a lot of doubts. A lot of tough days.

But i went back to what i knew, outwork everyone, stay ready, stay fit.

And after six months, the call came. Another team gave me an opportunity. And once again i leaned on that same mindset; that i have to be fitter, stronger and work harder than anyone else. And thats what brought me back. Now 13 seasons in, i’m still here and i’m still not done.

And that’s exactly why stepping into the fitness space was never a question for me. Because for me, fitness was never just about perfromance, it was about survival. It was about creating opportunities for yourself when none are given.

I’ve spent years learning my body, pushing my limits, understanding what it really takes to stay ready, not just for a season but for my entire career. And now i want to pass that on.

Because there’s someone out there right now who feels overlooked, doubted or not ‘talented enough’ and they don’t realise that their edge might just be in the work they’re willing to put in.

And if my story proves anything, it’s that sometimes, being underestimated is exactly what you need,to become UNSTOPPABLE.
